AGI Tours was started by Javier & Martha Eugenia Gonzalez in 1997.Javier, was raised in Valladolid moved to the "new born" Cancun at the age of 11. Javier decided to become a tour guide and share his Mayan heritage, traditions and its legends with the rest of the world who came to visit his country.
Javier graduated in 1984 from university in Mexico City with a degree focusing on history, archeology and anthropology. Javier's first guided tour was of Tulum on November 18th 1984. In 1989 after completing more studies, he received his license as a tour guide.

Most agencies operate bus tours with a minimum 40 passengers with one guide. These tours better described as "get on a bus, see the ruins, take pictures and get back on the bus", did not allow time for everyone to learn and appreciate the mystical world of the Maya.

Furthermore, it took away the personalized attention and excellence in service which Javier strongly believed in.
